CBS Junior Choir offers all Christchurch boys and girls expert instruction in reading music, voice production, and public performance. The choir sings the 9 a.m. Mass on the last Suunday of each month at the cathedral, and other venues by invitation. In association with the parent CBS Choir and Orchestra, there are opportunities to share in major concerts, and recordings for CD and TV, in specially designed choir uniforms.

The CBS music teaching team is headed by Don Whelan, who considers this an exciting opportunity for children to become involved in music of high quality while developing good friendships in a supportive environment. Don has been Musical Director at the Cathedral for 40 years. Following training as a primary teacher, and years teaching at Hornby and Aranui Primary Schools, he taught at Avonside GHS, Burnside HS, St Bede's College, and is currently HOD Music at Christchurch Boys' High School.
